The SafeDrive Postal Steering Stick Extension adds nine inches to the length of the Steering Stick. This allows the steering stick to reach across for vehicles with wide cabs, and makes it easier for postal workers that prefer to drive with their right hand.
It easily and securely attaches to the end of the Steering Stick by unscrewing the ball on the end of the stick, attaching the extension, and reattaching the ball.
The SafeDrive Postal Steering Stick Extension is made of the same light-weight metal and painted the same way so there is almost no visible seam to the extension.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS EXTENSION IS NOW INCLUDED WITH EVERY ORDER OF THE SAFEDRIVE POSTAL STEERING STICK.
Installation instructions are HERE.
I wish I would have ordered my postal stick at the same time I ordered my pedals. I’m only starting out on a 13 mile Auxiliary route but it’s nearly nonstop U-turns and 3-point turns! My body was screaming! The postal stick hasn’t eliminated all the newby soreness yet but it’s at least taken all the added stress out of my back and wrists (shoulders are still sore). With the purchase of the pedals as well, my upgrades allow me to sit ergonomically correct in the “passenger” seat (properly safely positioned in in relation to my vehicle’s airbags) and allows me to comfortably wear my seatbelt even. I did purchase the extension as well and am glad I did. The end sits on my knee when I’m idling. I use my right hand alone a lot for steering. This week I’m starting on a longer mileage out of town route with more straightaways for driving. I’m looking forward to seeing how I like the postal stick for that versus the low speed in town delivery full of turns and u-turns. If I can update my review I’ll post a photo with my Honda CRV loaded up for delivery and postal stick in place tomorrow.
I have a bit of a long reach to the steering wheel in my van and this really helps to be able to steer with my right hand without having to twist my body to the left. Its a good fit for me all around, thanks so much again!
I original stick was a bit hard to use. The first time I used it I was coming back from driving in a parking lot at a school nearby and I got confused using it on the highway and wound up going in the ditch on the opposite side of the highway. Needless to say it scared me to the point that I went home and did not do much just sat in my chair and relaxed. I decided not to use it on the highway and just try it on my rural mail route. It worked but was not easy to get the hang of it. I am the type that is always thinking of making things easier and I thought the extension you offer might be the answer I needed. So I ordered it and it works great. I just use my left hand on the steering wheel and can let the steering stick just rest on my leg till I need to use it. It is very good for making tight turns and works great for lining up to mailboxes but I would strongly suggest that you not use it on the highway. Hope this helps anyone who might be considering getting the steering stick. Overall it saved me from having to drive all the way from Montana to Tennessee to get a steering wheel setup on the right side of my vehicle and spend several thousand dollars to get this done. I am very happy with my purchase.
